AbstractSouth Africa is the sub-Saharan African country most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Health professionals, particularly nurses, are strongly mobilised to fight the epidemic and care for the sick. In addition to their conditions and overwork, many health care workers are infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, which causes illness and death. With the threat of a second epidemic wave, this complicated health situation could deteriorate further.Copyright © 2020. Publié par Elsevier Masson SAS.
