    AbstractThey are commonly used to treat osteoporosis and other diseases that involve osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, including Paget's disease and multiple myeloma. Their use in treating osteonecrosis of the femoral head has been studied and theoretically holds promise. There are complications associated with these medications, however, including the development of osteonecrosis in the jaw.
