    AbstractGastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is the most common gastrointestinal disorder seen in primary care offices and is usually managed with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). The authors present an overview of the updated guidelines from the American College of Gastroenterology, which address the evaluation and management of GERD, including the consequences of long-term PPI therapy and emerging therapies.Copyright © 2022 The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
