    AbstractThe symptom complex called prostatitis represents a multifactorial problem of unclear etiology. Standardized diagnostic and therapeutic approaches do not exist. Controlled studies which fulfil evidence-based medical criteria are missing. A review of the currently available literature leads to the conclusion that a multimodal therapy concept should be developed and examined.
