AbstractStrokes in children occur in conjunction with arteriovenous malformations or with occlusive vascular diseases secondary to cardiac disease, intracranial infection, hematological and metabolic disorders. Recently several inborn errors of metabolism have been recognized as possible causes of strokelike events and should be considered in differential diagnosis. In a survey we describe our experience with stroke and strokelike episodes in childhood and discuss the approach selected for its management.
