AbstractDeceleration injuries combined with hyperflexion of the torso as seen in motor vehicle accidents can result in combination of sternal and spinal fractures. This type of injury is associated with abnormalities of the soft tissue structures of the thorax. This publication reviews a case report of a deceleration injury and emphasizes the imaging modalities necessary to evaluate this constellation of abnormalities.
