    Session TitleTelemedicine PostersSESSION TYPE: Poster PresentationsPRESENTED ON: Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 01:15 PM - 02:15 PMPURPOSE: To describe the telenursing protocol developed to improving pulmonary function in patients with heart failure (HF) in a developing country.MethodsThe protocol will be conducted at ambulatory reference center that cares of heart failure people from whole State of Bahia-Brazil. This unit is part of public health system of the city of Salvador-Bahia, second metropolis of Northeast of Brazil. The telenursing protocol is based on: 1) contact with the individual by telephone, weekly; 2) distribution and explanation of an educational booklet; 3) filling of a diary of symptoms and signs; 4) Sent education by SMS, diary; 5) registry, manager intervention and re schedule of patients at ambulatory unit in case of non-elective visits, hospitalization or fatal episodes. The protocol is individualized according to the needs identified in mensal nursing consultation. During the calls, the nurse provides health education information about the pathology; monitoring of signs and symptoms; treatment adherence; healthy eating; breathing exercises; cardiovascular risk factors; physical activity practices; emotional and social support. Furthermore it provides to the individual a moment to express doubts and opinions about their health conditions. The protocol modifies according to the needs identified during the telenursing. The topics of health education were addressed in the calls alternately, and were determined after systematic literature and expert of the multidisciplinary team review.ResultsThe protocol allows the realization of standardized professional contacts with the individual, with educational approach; it indicates the need for educational intervention or reinforcement of appropriate health behavior.ConclusionsThe protocol works as a guiding instrument of telenursing.
