Session TitleBronchiectasis PostersSESSION TYPE: Poster PresentationsPRESENTED ON: Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 01:15 PM - 02:15 PMPURPOSE: To evaluate the effects of treatment with inhaled tobramycin in patients with non-CF bronchiectasis (BQ) considering the eradication of Pseudomona aeruginosa in sputum, changes in sputum and lung function.MethodsRetrospective study of 8 consecutive patients with non-CF BQ chronically infected with Pseudomona aeruginosa, treated with inhaled tobramycin. The following data were collected: gender, age, etiology of the BQ, smoking status, spirometry, body mass index (BMI), sputum characteristics, degree of dyspnea (mMRC).ResultsWe included 8 patients: 3 (37.5%) male and 5 (62.5%) female. The main value of age was 56.1 years (±16.9). The mean BMI was 22.7kg/m2, 4 had normal weight, 3 underweight and 1 had grade I obesity. Regarding the etiology, 3 (37.5%) had autoimmune disease, 2 (25%) post infectious, 1 (12.5%) primary ciliary dyskinesia, 1 (12.5%) COPD and 1 (12.5%) unknown. Using inhaled tobramycin, there was one case of Pseudomona aeruginosa eradication. In 3 patients there was a change in resistance profile. Regarding spirometry, 7 patients (87.5) remained with stable values, and one had a worsening of more than 10% of FEV1. 7 patients reported decrease of the amount and purulence of the sputum, with improving the degree of dyspnea.ConclusionsThe use of inhaled antibiotics in patients with non CF-BQ has shown a positive effect in the reduction of the number of colonies, a decreased amount and purulence of the sputum, with little impact on the percentage of eradication with low resistance.Clinical ImplicationsIn patients with non CF-BQ the administration of inhalated antibiotics offers multiple advantages.DisclosureThe following authors have nothing to disclose: Georgina Gramblicka, María Sosa, Gabriela Tabaj, María Gallardo, Valeria Morandi, Maria Laura Grodnitzky, Luciano Peyrano, Daniela Visentini, Patricia MalamudNo Product/Research Disclosure Information.
