Session Title Copd Iiisession TypeSlide PresentationPRESENTED ON: Monday, March 24, 2014 at 10:45 AM - 11:45 AMPURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine if any program or factor produces a different and more effective result in increasing smoking cessation rates in an outpatient clinicMethodsThis research was a focused analysis of the outpatient smoking cessation program that was instituted in a university hospital. The data of 931 applicants were reviewed retrospectively and the cases that have a follow up registries for one year or more were included for the analysis. The evaluations of these 512 cases were used to examine the results of the interventions used in the program and to compare environments and settings.ResultsRate of cessation in 512 cases was found as 53.3%. Any statistically significant difference was not found in groups who achieved and did not achive the cessation of smoking in age, gender, education, marital status, occupation, fagerstrom test, RIDKOÖ test scores,, whether he/she has accompanying disease or not. At least one person smoking in the same house and living together increased the failure rate significantly. It was found that in cases who attempted to give up smoking for 180 days and more, success rates increased statistically.ConclusionsIIt was concluded that, our high success rates obtained in our program are based on; intensive support and motivation applications, satisfactory counselling, close follow up, tracing of consensus reports and application of pharmacological methods in all cases who have not any contrindication .Clinical ImplicationsCDATA[Our program is designed to be implemented in multiple sessions for eight to twelve weeks. The program is designed to assist smokers in the devolepment of skills necessary to avoid smoking. The program uses a combination of peer interaction, provider intervention and coaching. The program does not include group counselling to create peer pressure for quitting.DisclosureThe following authors have nothing to disclose: Can Ozturk, Alev Kararli BingulNo Product/Research Disclosure Information.
