AbstractPrompt recognition of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura-hemolytic uremic syndrome (TTP-HUS) and initiation of plasma exchange treatment is critical as it substantially decreases mortality. Nevertheless, death and long-term complications remain common. The recent relaxation of diagnostic criteria has dramatically increased the number of patients treated for clinically suspected TTP-HUS.
