AbstractPneumonia is still the main cause of initiation antibiotic therapy in children, despite the fact that according to the newest epidemiological data, its incidence seems to be lower. In this paper current data concerning etiology, diagnostics and guidelines are discussed. The empirical antibiotic therapy of childhood pneumonia in different age groups is described. Author showed future trends in research necessary to solve controversies in present guidelines.
