AbstractRDS in adults is an unusual complication of pregnancy. We analysed a case of adult respiratory distress syndrome during pregnancy and assessed the haemodynamic data under controlled ventilation whilst a spontaneous delivery was carried out. The rapid drop in pulmonary artery pressure and in the QS-QT complex after the delivery suggests that there may be a placental shunt which gives a too high reading for exaggeration of the left to right intrapulmonary shunt figures obtained.
