ObjectiveTo set up an objective and non-injury method to estimate the fracture healing process.MethodsX-ray films of 48 cases of adult fresh fracture, 50 cases of adult old fracture and 70 rabbits experimental fracture of tibia were analysed, through computer image processing.ResultsThe bending strength of callus and the X-ray density of callus have an exponential correlation (P < 0.05). The X-ray density of callus increased coincidently with the fracture healing process. It also confirmed that there was a high correlation between the character of bending strength of callus and the X-ray density of callus.ConclusionIt provided an objective method to assess fracture healing treated by the integration of TCM and WM.
