AbstractWe describe a novel case of peroperative oesophageal perforation following insertion of a transoesophageal echocardiography probe. Histories of left pneumonectomy and oesophageal fragility probably explained this complication. The perforation was stitched and the coronary artery bypass graft surgery was delayed by a few days. Early postoperative period was not marked by infectious complication but the patient could not weaned from ventilatory support. She died 6 months later.
