AbstractThe diagnosis of sepsis, and especially its differentiation from sterile inflammation, may be challenging. The triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 is an amplifier of the innate immune response. Its soluble form is detectable in various biological fluids and can be used as a surrogate marker of triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 activation. In this article, we review the abundant literature evaluating the usefulness of soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 for the diagnosis and the prognosis evaluation of sepsis or localized infections.Copyright © 2019 Elsevier Inc.
