Review[Spinal manipulation for chronic low back pain--a survey of a chronic review].
A new Cochrane review based on 26 studies - 18 new since the last Cochrane review from 2003 - on spinal manipulation for chronic low back pain has been published by Rubinstein et al. Generally, manipulation for these patients was not clinically relevant better than other treatments like e.g. physical training. In general, the widespread use of manipulation should be reduced. The issues of specific subgroups with possible relevance/irrelevance of such treatment to obtain short-lasting pain relief in selected cases are discussed.

[Coronary angiography should be considered after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest].
Cardiac arrest has a poor prognosis. Ischaemic heart disease is the main cause of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. ⋯ Observational studies support the use of acute angiography in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. The negative predictive value of ST-segment elevation can be low after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, and acute angiography should be considered regardless of electrocardiographic findings.

Case Reports[Minor head injury can result in fracture of the anterior wall of sinus frontalis].
A 17 year-old boy suffered a minor head injury after a somersault in which his knee hit the forehead. He had a swelling over the right frontal sinus with unbroken skin. A computed tomography revealed a fracture of the anterior wall of the frontal sinus with a displaced bone fragment. ⋯ The fragment was repositioned surgically without complications. The frontal sinus is considered resistant to low-energy trauma. This dogma, however, has exceptions.

Case Reports[Fatal succinylcholine-induced hyperkalemia in an intensive care unit].
Succinylcholine-induced hyperkalemia is reported, but is still used in rapid sequence induction. In our case a 44 year-old man with septic shock was mechanically ventilated for 13 days, extubated but because of respiratory insufficiency reintubated. ⋯ Immobilization/infection cause an up-regulation and change in acetylcholine receptors is probably the reason for the extensive hyperkalemia and death. Caution in using succinylcholine is recommended and using rocuronium as an alternative is discussed.

Acupuncture is widely used as treatment for a variety of disorders. A case of bilateral pneumothorax associated to acupuncture in the thoracic region is described. ⋯ The patient was later discharged with no further complications. In Denmark there is no organised reporting of complications associated to treatment with acupuncture.
