The availability of alcohol in society is known to increase the risk of a range of negative health outcomes. ⋯ Despite alcohol outlets forming an integral part of the urban landscape in townships in South Africa, they may facilitate the transmission of tuberculosis.

Roles of clinical supervisors in the clinical training of radiography students in Zambia: a qualitative study.
Clinical supervisors are responsible for the facilitation of practice-based learning for radiography students. However, literature is scarce on the roles of clinical supervisors in the clinical training of students in Zambia. ⋯ Clinical supervisors need to understand their roles in order to develop and maintain their competences in the facilitation of practice-based learning. This could also help stakeholders to provide appropriate support to clinical supervisors.

Umbilical granuloma frequency of newborns in Third-line Hospital in Turkey.
The aim is to determine the umbilical granuloma frequency of newborns and etiological factors. ⋯ Umbilical granuloma, with frequency of 3.83% in newborns. Umbilical granuloma is more common in girls and newborns bathed before the umbilical cord seperation.

Weight distribution asymmetry in relation to walking speed in children with spastic cerebral palsy.
Gait speed and postural stability are indicators of community level ambulation and may be a valuable measure of disability. ⋯ Children with cerebral palsy demonstrate asymmetrical weight distribution during walking. Physical therapy training should be directed to enhance weight bearing distribution thus improving gait and postural stability.

IL-4 gene polymorphisms and their association with nematodes infection in Pakistani population.
Interleukin-4 (IL-4) plays a central role in the humoral immune defense against nematode parasite infections, inducing IgE switch and regulation of worm expulsion from the intestines. The present study aimed to investigate the polymorphisms in IL-4 gene and their association with socio-demographic and environmental factors among patients with gastrointestinal complaints. ⋯ IL-4 gene polymorphisms showed disease susceptibility and consuming raw/unwashed vegetables, poor handwashing practices and poor economic status were the most associated factors with the disease.
