Significant hyperbilirubinemia among well neonates due for discharge at Kawempe-Mulago Hospital, prevalence, factors associated, and accuracy of transcutaneous bilirubinometry for screening.
Neonates in low resource settings with a lack of pre-discharge screening and early intervention are at risk for complications associated with significant hyperbilirubinemia (SHB). ⋯ A significant number of well neonates have SHB. Transcutaneous bilirubinometry is a suitable screening tool in this setting. Early initiation of feeding should be promoted. The cause for high CRP among well neonates with SHB needs to be studied further.

Renal cyst mimicking hydronephrosis after uterine artery ligation for postpartum haemorrhage.
The proximity of the uterus and the cervix to the urinary tract predisposes the latter to injury during obstetrical and gynaecological surgical procedures. Following a difficult surgical procedure on the lower uterine segment and or adnexa, urinary tract injury should be excluded. ⋯ Renal cyst is a differential diagnosis of hydronephrosis. Delayed availability of the final result of medical investigations jeopardises patients' safety. A preliminary imaging report is prone to error and its use to determine the indication for an invasive procedure should be limited to emergencies.

Burden of caregiving among caregivers of patients with severe mental illnesses in Benin City, Nigeria.
Severe mental illness exerts a tremendous burden on both the sufferer and caregiver. Such burden has been severally identified as enormous involving psychological, physical and economic challenges. ⋯ There is a need to provide social support for caregivers of persons suffering from mental illness. Subsidization of cost of medication and hospitalization can reduce the burden experienced.

Attitude of literate married men towards the use of aphrodisiac herbs in Ilorin, Kwara state, Nigeria.
Sexual dysfunction among men is on the increase in Nigerian societies; however, many do not seek health care; and may prefer using aphrodisiac herbs. ⋯ Most literate married men in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria had a positive attitude towards the use of aphrodisiac herbs. Doctors and counsellors should organise community-based talk to orientate literate married men on the use of aphrodisiac herbs.

Testers' compliance to the quality standards of HIV rapid testing services in Primary Health Care Facilities in Makete District, Tanzania.
HIV rapid testing services is one among key interventions in the controlling of HIV/AIDS. Despite availability of quality standards, the quality of HIV rapid testing services remains questionable since non-laboratory testers are allowed to conduct testing while they are not specialized in providing testing services. ⋯ The quality of HIV rapid testing services provided by non-laboratory testers is below the established quality standards for HIV rapid testing services.
