Crude extracts activity of three selected medicinal plants from the Venda region against some pathogenic organisms.
The emerging of antimicrobial resistance has become a problem as it is threatening public health worldwide. ⋯ The results from this study show that the selected medicinal plants are active against Mycobacterium smegmatis and Staphylococcus aureus and their pharmacological properties can be further analyzed for the development of new drugs.

Meta AnalysisThe comparison of remimazolam and midazolam for the sedation of gastrointestinal endoscopy: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled studies.
Remimazolam and midazolam are used for the sedation of gastrointestinal endoscopy, but their efficacy remains controversial. We conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the sedation of remimazolam with midazolam for gastrointestinal endoscopy. ⋯ Remimazolam demonstrated better efficacy and safety for the sedation of gastrointestinal endoscopy compared to midazolam.

ReviewA five-year retrospective review of the maternal and feotal outcome of obstructed labour and its determinants in a tertiary hospital in Nigeria.
Obstructed labour is one of the common obstetric emergencies in Nigeria which is associated with an increased maternal and foetal complications. ⋯ The commonest cause of obstructed labour in our review is cephalopelvic disproportion occurring more in primiparous women. Wound infection is the commonest maternal complication with majority of the neonates having a good outcome. Provision of free antenatal care services, education of women on the importance of antenatal care, early presentation in the hospital and early use of broad spectrum antibiotics would help to reduce the associated complications.

Knowledge and attitude to dental implant placement amongst a group of Nigerian dentist.
The perceptions and experiences of dentists from different specialties on the use of dental implant and its applications can be instrumental in its use exhaustively. ⋯ The exposure and experience with dental implants was low among the respondents.
