Ligament reconstruction using the Fulkerson-Watson method to treat chronic isolated distal radioulnar joint instability: short-term results.
Isolated distal radioulnar instability may remain unrecognized during the acute period of trauma as it is difficult to diagnose, and does not become obvious until later when it has become chronic. We present early results in patients who underwent stabilization with extraarticular ligament reconstruction (Fulkerson-Watson reconstruction). ⋯ Surgical revision of distal radioulnar joint instability using Fulkerson-Watson reconstruction is easier than intraarticular techniques and satisfactorily re-establishes stability, provided that the sigmoid notch is adequate.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term outcome of shoulder arthrodesis with plate fixation and primary autogenous grafting in terms of pain, functional status and arthrodesis position. ⋯ Our findings show that AO reconstruction plate and primary autogenous bone grafting is a safe and effective arthrodesis method that can also be used as a salvage procedure.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyOsteoporotic hip fracture costs in the elderly Turkish population.
This study was designed to determine the length of hospital stay and treatment costs of patients with osteoporotic hip fractures in Turkey. ⋯ Diverse results in cost estimations of osteoporotic hip fractures reflect the incoherence of data as well as a lack of standardization of health care services. Therefore, ICD and DRG coding needs to be improved and a national database must be created at least for the invoices of importation of prostheses to fully be able to calculate the burden of osteoporosis across Turkey.

Case ReportsOsteoid osteoma of the cuboid bone: a rare cause of foot pain.
Osteoid osteoma, a common bone lesion of benign nature, is more rarely seen in feet. It most commonly involves the talus yet rarely the cuboid. The atypical symptoms of foot involvement may delay the diagnosis. ⋯ Osteoid osteoma is an unusual bone tumor of the foot. It should be included in the differential diagnosis of patients exhibiting foot pain. In speculative cases with no obvious radiographic findings, further imaging studies, such as CT, should be considered.

Comparative StudyIs plating of mid-shaft clavicular fractures possible with a conventional straight 3.5 millimeter locking compression plate?
Current literature describes improved clinical outcomes and a minor rate of pseudoarthrosis following operatively treated clavicular fractures. We investigated the feasibility of using a standard 3.5 mm AO locking compression plate (LCP) of adequate length for the stabilisation of mid-shaft fractures of the clavicle. ⋯ The described technique for plate osteosynthesis of the clavicle with AO locking compression plate is feasible and results in a biomechanically strong construct for mid-shaft fractures. With the use of a locking plate, comminuted fractures may be bridged without a reduction in the strength of the construct.
