Long term follow up of clinical outcome between patellar resurfacing and nonresurfacing in total knee arthroplasty: Chinese experience.
The long term outcome of patellar resurfacing in Chinese has not been well described. This study evaluated more than 10-year clinical outcomes and survivorship of patellar resurfacing or nonresurfacing in total knee arthroplasty. ⋯ There was no significant difference of long-term clinical outcome and survivorship between patellar resurfacing and nonresurfacing. Patellar nonresurfacing can be advisable during primary total knee arthroplasty especially in Chinese patients with osteoarthritis. Selective patellar resurfacing for patients with rheumatoid arthritis can achieve lower patella related complication.

Association between maternal psychological status and fetal hemodynamic circulation in late pregnancy.
The prevalence reported of maternal depression from the first to the third trimester was 7.4%, 12.8%, 12.0% respectively, which implies that around one-tenth of pregnant women suffer from psychological disorder during the whole pregnancy. It is assumed that during pregnancy the maternal-fetal circulation unit is also affected by maternal psychological status. The aim of this study is to explore the association between maternal psychological status and fetal dynamic blood flow circulation during pregnancy. ⋯ Poor mental health during pregnancy is found to have an adverse effect on maternal-fetal circulation. Umbilical artery and fetal cerebral circulation are more sensitive and affected by maternal psychological disorder.

Intraoperative study on anthropometry and gender differences of the proximal tibial plateau at the arthroplasty resection surface.
The tibial plateau is asymmetric with a larger medial plateau. We observed from clinical practice that the shape of the tibial plateau does not always present a larger medial plateau. Tibial plateau also showed other shapes. The purpose of this study was to analyze the anthropometric data of the proximal tibia in a large group of Chinese patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty and to investigate the morphology of the resected proximal tibial surface and its gender differences. ⋯ The results of this study can be used as a guideline to design tibial components with different DMLs to better match the different anthropometry of the resected tibial surface.

Effect of catheter radiofrequency ablation on C-reactive protein, brain natriuretic peptide and echocardiograph in patients with persistent and permanent atrial fibrillation.
Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) for atrial fibrillation (AF) has developed rapidly, and is a commonly performed ablation in many major hospitals throughout the world, due to its satisfactory results. The aim of this study was to detect the effect of RFCA on C-reactive protein (CRP), brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), and echocardiograph in patients with persistent and permanent AF. ⋯ Conversion of AF to sinus rhythm by RFCA, has been shown to reduce LA size and improve LVEF. It can also significantly decrease the levels of CRP and BNP in patients with persistent and permanent AF and reduce the risk of inflammation and developing heart failure.

Prevalence of stroke and metabolic disorders in the middle-aged and elderly Chinese with type 2 diabetes.
Stroke is now the most prevalent and debilitating disease affecting diabetic population in China. The study aimed to investigate the prevalence of stroke and metabolic disorders in the middle-aged and elderly Chinese with type 2 diabetes. ⋯ The prevalence of stroke was higher in middle-aged and elderly Chinese with type 2 diabetes than that in the general population. With the aggregation of risk factors, the prevalence of stroke increased.
