New disease severity classification of patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in Shanghai.
The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) presented a new ABCD group classification of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We aimed to examine the association of spirometric classification and the new GOLD classification with exacerbations, and to compare symptoms in different ways. ⋯ Lung function test may be a better predictor of acute exacerbation and associated hospitalization of COPD. It is more appropriate to use mMRC = 1 as cutoff point for assessing COPD symptoms.

Biphasic insulin aspart 30 improved glycemic control in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes poorly controlled on oral glucose-lowering drugs: a subgroup analysis of the A₁chieve study.
The effectiveness and safety of initiating biphasic insulin aspart 30 in patients who were poorly controlled on oral glucose-lowering drugs were studied in randomized controlled trials, while results from clinical practice remain limited. This subgroup analysis was to provide such findings from a large-scale non-interventional study. ⋯ In this subgroup analysis of the A1chieve study, biphasic insulin aspart 30 improved glycemic control with low risk of hypoglycemia.

Genetic analysis of a congenital nephrogenic diabetes insipidus pedigree.
As an X-linked recessive way, arginine vasopressin receptor 2 (AVPR2) gene mutation resulted in a hereditary disease - congenital nephrogenic diabetes insipidus (CNDI). We found a suspect clinical CNDI pedigree. In order to identify the genetic etiology, we performed the genetic analysis. ⋯ The AVPR2 gene R337X mutation was also a genetic etiology of CNDI patients in the mainland of China.

Clinical features and outcomes of 210 patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a lethal chronic interstitial lung disease (ILD) of unknown cause and having a variable and unpredictable course. This study aimed to summarize the clinical features and follow-up outcomes and to identify potential factors useful for the assessment of prognosis in IPF. ⋯ IPF patients who have clubbing, PAH, a higher FEV1/FVC, and a short duration from initial onset to diagnosis have a poorer outcome.

An anatomical comparison of two minimally invasive pelvic reconstructive surgeries using fresh female cadavers.
During the past decade, graft materials have been widespread used in the vagina in order to correct pelvic organ prolapse. The aim of this study was to describe and compare the exact anatomical position of the puncture devices and their relations to the relevant anatomical structures in the Prolift(TM) and a modified pelvic reconstructive surgery with mesh. ⋯ Compared with the Prolift(TM) technique, the modified pelvic reconstructive surgery with mesh would be safer not to cause great damage to the inferior gluteal arteries and the coccygeal arteries. The posterior branch of obturator arteries would be easier to be injured than the anterior branch of obturator arteries during anterior compartment reconstruction in both surgeries.
