Accuracy of 18F-FDG PET/CT for lymph node staging in non-small-cell lung cancers.
This retrospective study evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of 2-(F18)-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose-positron emission tomography ((18)F-FDG-PET)/computed tomography (PET/CT) in the preoperative diagnosis of metastatic mediastinal and hilar lymph node in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ⋯ PET/CT scan showed good accuracy in the preoperative diagnosis of mediastinal and hilar lymph node metastasis in the patients with NSCLC. We recommend that PET/CT scanning be used as a first-line evaluation tool for tumor diagnosis, therapy evaluation and follow-up.

Endovascular repair: alternative treatment of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm.
As an alternative to open aneurysm repair, endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) has been applied to ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (rAAA). The aim of this study was to evaluate the immediate and long-term outcomes of EVAR for rAAA. ⋯ EVAR is a safe and effective option for treatment of acute rAAA, independent of the patient's general condition. Immediate and mid-term outcomes are favorable, but long-term outcome is unknown. Multi-center studies are necessary to establish the role of EVAR for rAAA.

Antiangiogenic effect of celastrol on the growth of human glioma: an in vitro and in vivo study.
Celastrol is a major active component of Tripterygium wilfordii named "Thunder God Vine", which is widely used to treat rheumatoid arthritis in China. The present study aims to demonstrate that celastrol has potent anticancer activity against glioma in vitro and in vivo. ⋯ Celastrol elicits antiangiogenic effects in vitro and in vivo, and could be of potential use in the treatment of malignant cancers such as glioblastoma.

Comparative StudyUniportal versus biportal video-assisted thoracoscopic sympathectomy for palmar hyperhidrosis.
Video-assisted thoracoscopic sympathectomy had replaced open surgery. The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of using a single port and two ports to perform video-assisted thoracoscopic sympathectomy for palmar hyperhidrosis. ⋯ Both uniportal and biportal video-assisted thoracoscopic sympathectomy are effective, safe, and minimally invasive for palmar hyperhidrosis. Comparing with the biportal approach, the uniportal approach causes less postoperative pain and less operative time, and is a more reasonable procedure in treatment of palmar hyperhidrosis.

Subjective sleepiness in heart failure patients with sleep-related breathing disorder.
Previous studies show that sleep-related breathing disorder (SRBD) is common in patients with heart failure (HF) and is associated with increased mortality. This study aimed to determine whether there was significant difference of subjective daytime sleepiness between HF patients with and without SRBD. ⋯ OSA and CSA remain common in patients with HF on optimal contemporary therapy. Patients with both HF and SRBD have no significant subjective daytime sleepiness compared with patients without SRBD, despite of significantly increased awake number, arousal and decreased proportion of deep sleep stages. It is not a credible way and means to exclude SRBD in patients with HF according to the absence of subjective daytime sleepiness.
