Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyOral dexamethasone decreases postoperative pain, swelling, and trismus more than diclofenac following third molar removal: a randomized controlled clinical trial.
The aim of this study was to compare the anti-inflammatory potential of two pharmacotherapy protocols based on the parameters of pain, trismus, and swelling, after extraction of third molars. ⋯ Medical protocol with the use of dexamethasone in the postoperative period was more effective in controlling pain, trismus, and swelling, after the extraction of third molars, when compared to diclofenac sodium.

Comparative StudyUtility of intraoperative nerve monitoring in thyroid surgery: 20-year experience with 1418 cases.
The efficacy of intraoperative nerve monitoring is controversial in the literature. This study of a single surgeon's experience seeks to determine if the use of intraoperative nerve monitoring influences recurrent laryngeal nerve injury during thyroid surgery. ⋯ Intraoperative monitoring during thyroidectomy may not prevent injury to the recurrent laryngeal nerve.
