Etanercept concentration and immunogenicity do not influence the response to Etanercept in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
To investigate the relationship of clinical response of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) to etanercept (ETN) with ETN levels, and the presence of anti-drug antibodies to ETN (ADAb). ⋯ This study did not demonstrate any correlation between JIA activity and circulating ETN levels in a large population of patients with JIA previously treated with ETN for at least 1.5 months. As described for adults, our study confirms that ETN is marginally immunogenic in pediatric patients. These results do not support the clinical usefulness of a monitoring of ADAb or ETN concentrations for the management of this group of JIA patients if they fail to achieve clinical inactive disease.

Myositis as an adverse event of immune checkpoint blockade for cancer therapy.
Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) can successfully treat cancer, but their use can be hindered by serious immune-related adverse events. We report six patients receiving ICIs who presented with de novo myositis. ⋯ We found several occurrences of de novo myositis following ICI therapy. These preliminary data suggest that myositis can occur early after onset of ICI therapy with serious adverse outcomes.

Physician-patient interactions in African American patients with systemic lupus erythematosus: Demographic characteristics and relationship with disease activity and depression.
African American patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are at high risk for poor outcomes. Both patient characteristics and the severity of the disease may influence physician-patient interactions, which in turn can impact disease outcomes. We aimed to examine whether patient perceptions of interpersonal processes of care (i.e. physician-patient interactions) varied by demographic characteristics, disease activity, and/or depression in African American patients with SLE. ⋯ In the African American population with SLE, suboptimal interactions with providers may be explained in part by the mental and physical symptoms of the patient, regardless of age, gender and education. In addition to standard of care treatment, SLE patients with more severe disease activity and depression might need provider-based interventions focused on communication and interpersonal style.

Predictors of positive 18F-FDG PET/CT-scan for large vessel vasculitis in patients with persistent polymyalgia rheumatica.
Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is often the presenting manifestation of giant cell arteritis (GCA). Fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan often discloses the presence of large vessel vasculitis (LVV) in PMR patients. We aimed to identify predictive factors of a positive PET/CT scan for LVV in patients classified as having isolated PMR according to well-established criteria. ⋯ Inflammatory low back pain, pelvic girdle and diffuse lower limb pain are predictors of positive PET/CT scan for LVV in PMR.

Frequency, treatment, evolution, and factors associated with the presence of tracheobronchial stenoses in granulomatosis with polyangiitis. Retrospective analysis of a case series from a single respiratory referral center.
Granulomatosis with polyangiitis-a primary systemic vasculitis-most frequent manifestations are respiratory. Airway disease can present with stenosis, and although subglottic stenosis (SGS) is well described, narrowing distal to the glottis has been more recently the focus of reporting. Our objectives, therefore, are to describe the frequency, characteristics, and treatment of tracheobronchial stenoses (TBS) in granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) at our institution, a national referral center for respiratory diseases. Also, to identify factors associated with TBS development in GPA. ⋯ TBS are serious complications of GPA which can arise at any stage of the disease. Timely diagnosis plus optimal treatment and follow-up remain unmet needs.
