Recurrence of radicular pain or back pain after nonsurgical treatment of symptomatic lumbar disk herniation.
To determine recurrence rates of lower-extremity radicular pain after nonsurgical treatment of acute symptomatic lumbar disk herniation (LDH), and to identify predictors of recurrence. ⋯ Recurrence of radicular pain is relatively common after nonsurgical treatment of LDH and is predicted by longer time to initial resolution of pain.

Impact of tactile dysfunction on upper-limb motor performance in children with unilateral cerebral palsy.
To determine the relationship between tactile function and upper-limb function in children with unilateral cerebral palsy (CP). ⋯ Spatial tactile deficits account for approximately 30% of the variance in upper-limb motor function in children with unilateral CP. This emphasizes the need for routine tactile assessment and targeted treatment of tactile spatial deficits in this population.

Predictors of walking performance and walking capacity in people with lumbar spinal stenosis, low back pain, and asymptomatic controls.
To examine predictors of community walking performance and walking capacity in people with lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS), compared with people with low back pain and asymptomatic control subjects. ⋯ BMI, pain, female sex, and age predict walking performance and capacity in people with LSS, those with low back pain, and asymptomatic control subjects. While pain was the strongest predictor of walking capacity, BMI was the strongest predictor of walking performance. Average pain, rather than leg pain, was predictive of walking performance and capacity. Obesity and pain are modifiable predictors of walking deficits that could be targets for future intervention studies aimed at increasing walking performance and capacity in both the low back pain and LSS populations.

Coordination of dynamic balance during gait training in people with acquired brain injury.
To investigate movement of the center of mass (COM) during different gait training methods in people with neurologic conditions. ⋯ In the context of overall dynamic gait coordination, no single method of training provides the optimal stimulus. A training program that uses a variety of techniques may provide a beneficial rehabilitation response.
