Physical Abilities and Mobility Scale: reliability and validity in children receiving inpatient rehabilitation for acquired brain injury.
To investigate the psychometric properties of the Physical Abilities and Mobility Scale (PAMS) in children receiving inpatient rehabilitation for acquired brain injury (ABI). ⋯ The PAMS is a reliable and valid measure of progress during inpatient rehabilitation for children with ABI. By capturing fine-grain progress toward both lower-level and higher-level mobility skills, the PAMS complements the WeeFIM in assessing functional gains during the rehabilitation stay.

Difficulties in functioning 1 year after injury: the role of preinjury sociodemographic and health characteristics, health care and injury-related factors.
To identify the role of preinjury sociodemographic and health characteristics, injury and injury-related health care characteristics in determining functional outcomes 12 months after injury. ⋯ A range of preinjury sociodemographic and health characteristics are associated with several adverse functional outcomes 1 year after injury, independent of the nature and severity of injury. The latter, however, also have independent effects on the outcomes.

Randomized Controlled TrialLumbar multifidus muscle thickness does not predict patients with low back pain who improve with trunk stabilization exercises.
To understand lumbar multifidus (LM) muscle activation as a clinical feature to predict patients with low back pain (LBP) who are likely to benefit from stabilization (STB) exercises. ⋯ LM-muscle activation does not appear to be a clinical feature that predicts patients with LBP likely to benefit from STB exercises.

Changes in health status among aging survivors of pediatric upper and lower extremity sarcoma: a report from the childhood cancer survivor study.
To evaluate health status and participation restrictions in survivors of childhood extremity sarcomas. ⋯ Treatment of lower extremity sarcomas is associated with a 50% increased risk for activity limitations; upper extremity survivors are at a 10% higher risk for not completing college. The type of local control influences health status and participation restrictions. Both of these outcomes decline with age.
