Review Meta AnalysisEffect of statins on serum vitamin D concentrations: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the effects of statin therapy on serum vitamin D concentrations. ⋯ This meta-analysis was inconclusive on the effects of statins on vitamin D, with conflicting directions of the effects from interventional and observational studies. The suggested favourable effects from RCTs need to be confirmed in larger studies with extended follow-up in order to determine the possible health benefits.

Meta AnalysisEffect of vitamins C and E on insulin resistance in diabetes: a meta-analysis study.
Data regarding the effect of vitamin C (VC) and vitamin E (VE) supplementation on insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are controversial. We aimed to systematically review the current data on this topic. ⋯ The sole intake of VC, VE or their combination with other antioxidants could not improve insulin resistance in diabetes.

Review Meta Analysis Comparative StudyElectrical stimulation vs. standard care for chronic ulcer healing: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.
We conducted a systematic review to investigate the effect of electrical stimulation on ulcer healing compared to usual treatment and/or sham stimulation. This systematic review also aimed to investigate the effect of different types of electrical stimulation on ulcer size reduction. ⋯ Electrical stimulation appears to increase the rate of ulcer healing and may be superior to standard care for ulcer treatment.

Review Meta AnalysisSecondary prophylaxis of variceal bleeding for cirrhotic patients: a multiple-treatments meta-analysis.
To evaluate comprehensively the effects of 12 prophylaxis interventions for secondary prophylaxis of variceal bleeding using multiple-treatments meta-analysis. ⋯ Endoscopic banding ligation combined with EIS might be the first choice in the secondary prophylaxis of varices bleeding.
