Randomized Controlled TrialSexual dimorphism in exercise-induced response on steroid hormones to a 24-week supervised concurrent training intervention.
Steroid hormones are key mediators of adaptative responses to exercise, a stimulus that may concurrently affect their blood concentrations. However, the chronic endocrine adaptations and whether these potential changes are dependent on exercise intensity remain undetermined. Moreover, it is also unknown if the exercise-induced effects on steroid hormonal status are related to the participant' sex. ⋯ Our 24-week supervised concurrent training intervention showed no significant changes in steroid hormone levels. However, a significant decrement of T/C ratio was observed only in women, indicating a sexual dimorphism in the effect on T/C ratio.

Randomized Controlled TrialEducational status affects prognosis of patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction: A post-hoc analysis from the WARCEF trial.
The influence of social determinants of health (SDOH) on the prognosis of Heart Failure and reduced Ejection Fraction (HFrEF) is increasingly reported. We aim to evaluate the contribution of educational status on outcomes in patients with HFrEF. ⋯ NCT00041938.

Randomized Controlled TrialBlood flow effects of percutaneous peripheral nerve stimulation. A blinded, randomized clinical trial.
The vasculature function is mainly regulated by the autonomic nervous system. Importantly, the sensory-motor nervous system also innervates peripheral vessels and has the capacity to modulate vascular tone. Here we investigated the effects of electrical stimulation of a mixed nerve trunk on blood flow in deep arteries and muscle perfusion. Our hypothesis is that stimulation of a mixed nerve can modify blood flow. ⋯ Therefore, the arterial blood flow in the arm is mainly impervious to the electrical stimulation of the median nerve, composed by autonomic and sensory-motor axons, although it produces mild modifications in the forearm muscles perfusion.

Randomized Controlled TrialMobile health technology integrated care in atrial fibrillation patients with diabetes mellitus in China: A subgroup analysis of the mAFA-II cluster randomized clinical trial.
The Mobile Health Technology for Improved Screening and Optimized Integrated Care in AF (mAFA-II) prospective randomized trial showed the efficacy of a mobile health (mHealth) implemented 'Atrial fibrillation Better Care' (ABC) pathway for the integrated care management of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). In this ancillary analysis, we evaluated the effect of mAFA intervention according to the history of diabetes mellitus (DM). ⋯ A mHealth-technology implemented ABC pathway showed a consistent effect in reducing the risk of the primary composite outcome in AF patients with and without DM.

Randomized Controlled TrialAssociation of hydroxytyrosol enriched olive oil with vascular function in chronic coronary disease.
Hydroxytyrosol reduces low-density lipoprotein oxidation, contributing to prevention of atherosclerosis progression. ⋯ Hydroxytyrosol-enriched olive oil may have beneficial effects on endothelial, arterial and LV diastolic function likely by reducing oxidative and inflammatory burden in CCAS, though further studies are needed to confirm this mechanism.
