Review Meta AnalysisDecompressive surgery in Cerebral Venous Thrombosis: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
The efficacy of decompressive surgery (DS) in cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) patients has been reported in several case reports and case series. We aimed at determining the association of DS compared with medical management and timing of surgery with functional outcome and mortality. We also aimed at determining the prevalence of DS in CVT patients. ⋯ Surgery ≤48 h of admission might decrease mortality in CVT patients and may result in improved functional outcome. Further prospective studies with appropriate control arms are required to confirm its efficacy over medical management.

ReviewCOVID-19 vaccine induced myocarditis in young males: A systematic review.
Myocarditis is a rare but significant adverse event associated with COVID-19 vaccination, especially for men under 40. If the risk of myocarditis is not stratified by pertinent risk factors, it may be diluted for high-risk and inflated for low-risk groups. We sought to assess how the risk of myocarditis is reported in the literature. ⋯ Only one in four articles reporting myocarditis used four stratifiers, and men younger than 40 receiving a second dose of an mRNA vaccine are at greatest risk.

Observational StudyPrevalence and management of tuberculosis infection in Apulian rheumatologic patients treated with biologics: an observational cohort 10-year study from the BIOPURE registry.
The objective of this study was to assess the 10-year prevalence of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) among Apulian patients with rheumatic diseases (RDs). Secondary endpoint was to record new cases of active TB disease and LTBI among patients treated with biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs). ⋯ In the 10-year observation, the use of bDMARDs seems to be safe in rheumatologic patients with positive QFT-GIT test treated according to current recommendations. Nevertheless, cases of primary TB disease did occur during treatment with biologicals.

The impact of metabolic syndrome on chronic kidney disease development. Insights from a big prospective study.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) can progress over time and cause renal replacement therapy. Studies showed the association between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and CKD. Current evidence is from cross-sectional studies. There is a need for the robust data from big prospective cohort studies with long-term follow-up. This study investigated the association between CKD and MetS after 18 years of follow-up. ⋯ CKD significantly develops in patients with MetS. Metabolic syndrome was associated with the development of chronic kidney disease incidence. Hypertension, diabetes, and age were strong indicators, while abdominal obesity and reduced HDL were not associated with the incidence of CKD.

Case ReportsA biallelic variant in POLR2C is associated with congenital hearing loss and male infertility: Case report.
DNA-directed RNA polymerase II subunit 3 (RPB3) is the third largest subunit of RNA polymerase II and is encoded by the POLR2C (OMIM:180663). A large Iranian family with congenital hearing loss and infertility is described here with genetic and clinical characterizations of five male patients. ⋯ Using segregation and in silico analyses, for the first time, we suggested that the NM_032940.3:c.545T>C; p.(Val182Ala) in POLR2C is associated with hearing loss and male infertility.
