Mandibular Fracture Patterns at a Medical Center in Central Taiwan: A 3-Year Epidemiological Review.
Mandibular fractures constitute a major portion of maxillofacial trauma and may lead to considerable functional and aesthetic sequelae if treatment is inadequate or delayed. An epidemiology study on mandibular fractures may guide the preventive efforts of the Taiwan public health care system. Therefore, a retrospective review was conducted at a medical center in central Taiwan to evaluate the current mandibular fracture epidemiology. ⋯ Compared with previous studies, the present study has a higher percentage of women with mandibular fractures. In addition, inadequate mandibular protection by partial-coverage helmets may be a major reason for mandibular fractures most commonly localized in the symphysis and parasymphysis regions. The incidence and causes of mandibular fractures may reflect the trauma patterns within the community, thus facilitating the development of a preventive strategy for the socioeconomic and environmental background of central Taiwan.

The objective of this study is to estimate the reference values for the upper limb peripheral nerves in adults. The demographics and physical characteristics of 69 adult healthy volunteers were evaluated and recorded. ⋯ Cross-sectional area reference values of the upper limb nerves did not correlate with height; however, they correlated with age, weight, and BMI in some scanned sites. The data obtained in this study could be helpful in future diagnosis of peripheral nerve disorders of the upper limb.

Collodion baby is a rare autosomal recessive disorder. It can be the first expression of some forms of ichthyosis. ⋯ In our case, skin injuries, total parenteral nutrition, aggressive and prolonged antibiotic therapy, intravenous devices, high hospitalization duration were risk factors for colonization and sepsis with fungi, especially in the neonatal period, sometimes with severe evolution and prognosis.

Clinical and pathology analysis of 1 case of adult pleural pulmonary blastoma: A case report.
Pulmonary blastoma is a rare primary lung cancer that can be categorized into adult type and child type. The clinical symptoms and imaging features of pulmonary blastoma are nonspecific, making it difficult to diagnose preoperatively. Postoperative pathology with immunohistochemical staining can help diagnosis. ⋯ Pleural pulmonary blastoma is a malignant tumor with rare pathological features that is easy to relapse and metastasis with poor prognosis. Surgical treatment preferably, lobectomy plus mediastinal lymph node dissection, is the first treatment option. The overall prognosis is poor.

Case Reports
Cisplatin-induced sudden cardiac death with hemodynamic collapse: a severe adverse drug reaction: Case report.
Cisplatin is responsible for a significant percentage of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) in oncology setting. A great proportion of cisplatin-induced severe adverse events are difficult to foresee, and giving premedication does not always prevent the occurrence of such events. ⋯ Cisplatin therapy should be thoroughly monitored including electrolyte, especially magnesium levels. Absence of previous ADRs to cisplatin and premedication should not give false sense of security.
