The aim of this study was to compare transradial access (TRA) approach with transfemoral access (TFA) approach in patients undergoing hepatic interventions. ⋯ For patients suffer from primary or secondary hepatic malignancy and undergoing hepatic interventions, the present meta-analysis demonstrated that patients prefer the TRA approach to the TFA approach. But the procedure time is longer in TRA group.

Review Case Reports
An unusual case of intraosseous mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the mandible: A case report and literature review.
Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is the most common primary salivary gland malignancy. Ectopic MEC can occur in any part of the body, however, only 2% to 4% of MEC could be detected in the jaw, which is named intraosseous mucoepidermoid carcinoma (IMC). IMC is usually a low-grade carcinoma. Uni- or multilocular radiographic lesions should be differential diagnosed with ameloblastoma, odontogenic cysts, and glandular odontogenic cyst (GOC). Radical surgery may prefer for a favorable prognosis. Whereas IMC can recur long after the operation, a long-term follow-up system should be implemented. Owing to its rarity and controversial issues, we report a case report and review the literature to discuss its clinical features, treatments, radiological, and histological characteristics. ⋯ Effective surgical treatment allows patients to have a favorable prognosis. A long-term follow-up system should be practiced, because local recurrences and regional metastasis could happen even after decades.

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a primary treatment for the early gastric cancer (EGC) who has a negligible risk of lymph node metastasis. Papillary adenocarcinoma (PAC) of stomach is a rare histologic variant of gastric cancer and categorized into EGC with differentiated-histology. However, aggressive features such as higher rate of lymphovascular invasion (LVI) or submucosal invasion have been reported, whereas comparable lymph node metastasis (LNM) rate to the lesions meeting the current ESD criteria also has been reported. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of ESD for EGC with PAC. ⋯ This study will provide evidence of ESD for EGC with PAC.

A current non-pharmacological mean for attaining painless conservative treatment is presented by laser analgesia (LA), considered as bio-photomodulation of pulp reactivity aiming reduction of nociceptive impulse formation. Currently no consensus is reached regarding a detailed protocol with laser parameter settings for pre-emptive LA. The purpose of this study is determining the efficacy of erbium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet (Er:YAG) laser in achieving pulpal analgesia and quantifying duration and extent of any effects assessed. ⋯ This study protocol has been approved by the Committee for Scientific Research Ethics, Medical University - Plovdiv, Bulgaria (Reference number P-8604, Protocol of approval N:6/23.11.2017) and registered on a publically accessible database. This research received institutional funding from the Medical University - Plovdiv, Bulgaria under project SPD-03/2017. Findings will be reported in scientific publications and at research conferences, and in project summary papers for participants.

The work-up of a thyroid nodule to diagnose malignancy is not always straightforward. There are various international thyroid societies each with their own guidelines on the approach to a thyroid nodule. The aim is therefore to determine whether a clinically suspicious thyroid nodule should be subjected to surgery. ⋯ Ultrasound and cytopathology are the 2 most appropriate investigations to diagnose whether a suspicious thyroid nodule is benign or malignant. The clinician needs to be aware of the differences between the guidelines from the various international thyroid societies, specifically concerning the indeterminate group of patients where a definitive diagnosis cannot be made. Management decisions should be discussed with a thyroid multidisciplinary team for a consensus decision whether or not to subject a patient with a suspicious thyroid nodule to surgery.
