Diabetic retinopathy (DR) remains the most common microvascular complication of diabetes; both its high prevalence and associated high risk of vision loss lead it to the major global health burden. Despite significant research efforts, there still remains much of the underlying pathology not fully understand. In the past studies, inner retinal blood flow disturbances are widely assessed as a potential biomarker of DR. However, the results have been variable and even contradictory. Improved methods to figure out the metabolic disturbances associated with DR are essential. Some research showed that both vascular endothelial growth factor-A and blood oxygen saturation are higher in DR patients and correlated with disease severity. Therefore, we decided to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to find out the connection of them and provide robust evidence on the mechanism underlying this connection to help us better understand the pathophysiology behind the hypoxic retina and find better ways to treat DR. ⋯ INPLASY202040161.

Diabetic erectile dysfunction (DED) has gradually become a worldwide problem. Due to the mechanism of DED is not clear, it is impossible to treat it pertinently. Recently, some studies have shown that vitamin D is associated with DED, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and erectile dysfunction (ED), but there is no systematic review and meta-analysis on the relationship between vitamin D and DED. ⋯ INPLASY202040164.

Withdrawing mycophenolate mofetil in treating a young kidney transplant recipient with COVID-19: A case report.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a novel infectious disease and became a global issue. Treatment of COVID-19 especially in solid organ transplant recipients is empirical and controversial, especially the adjustment of the immunosuppressants. ⋯ In certain group of COVID-19 (e.g., mild to moderate cases, young patients without comorbidities), a reduction instead of an overall withdrawal of immunosuppressant in kidney transplant recipients is feasible.

Cell cycle-related lncRNAs and mRNAs in osteoarthritis chondrocytes in a Northwest Chinese Han Population.
A group of differentially expressed long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been shown to play key roles in osteoarthritis (OA), although they represented only a small proportion of lncRNAs that may be biologically and physiologically relevant. Since our knowledge of regulatory functions of non-coding RNAs is still limited, it is important to gain better understanding of their relation to the pathogenesis of OA. ⋯ This study uncovered several novel genes potentially important in pathogenesis of OA, and forecast the potential function of lnc-CTD-2184D3.4, especially for the cell cycle in the chondrocytes. These findings may promote additional aspects in studies of OA.
