High-altitude polycythemia (HAPC) is a common disease in high-altitude areas characterized by excessive erythrocyte proliferation and severe hypoxemia. Recently, the incidence of ureteral calculi has risen. However, cases of ureteral calculi associated with HAPC have not been reported. ⋯ Recently, extensive research has demonstrated a significant correlation between hyperuricemia and HAPC. Therefore, we speculated that the occurrence of ureteral calculi among immigrants to the plateau might be related to hyperuricemia associated with HAPC. This case report and literature review highlights that the prevention of ureteral calculi in patients with polycythemia who immigrate to the plateaus from high-altitude areas should be considered. Additionally, the serum uric acid levels and urine pH should be monitored regularly.

Despite significant advances in surgical techniques and implants, the clinical outcome of high-energy pilon fractures remains unsatisfactory, which continues to represent numerous challenges for orthopedic trauma surgeons. ⋯ This is a rare case of complete ischemic necrosis following ORIF surgery of a closed pilon fracture due to iatrogenic damage. Standardized treatment that strictly follows the guidelines, instructions, or expert consensus should be promoted in this kind of complicated pilon fracture.

Treatment with Ramucirumab-paclitaxel in a metastatic gastric cancer patient undergoing hemodialysis: A case report.
Ramucirumab, a human Ig 1 monoclonal antibody against vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2, in combination with paclitaxel is a second-line chemotherapy for patients with metastatic gastric cancer. Several reports have suggested that dose adjustments of cetuximab, an anti- epidermal growth factor receptor antibody, are not required in patients with renal impairment. However, the combination chemotherapy of ramucirumab and cytotoxic drug for hemodialysis (HD) patients has not been reported. ⋯ The paclitaxel chemotherapy with ramucirumab is effective and safe in HD patients with metastatic gastric cancer. As seen in patients with normal kidney function, ramucirumab can be safely administered without a dose reduction.

Metachronous primary cancer of the tongue and malignant lymphoma of the small intestine: A case report.
Oral cancer often causes secondary primary cancers in the upper gastrointestinal tract. However, there are no reports of secondary primary cancers in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma and malignant lymphoma of the small intestine. This report describes a case of metachronous multiple primary cancers of the tongue and small intestine malignant lymphoma. ⋯ Oral cancer patients should always be followed up owing to a possibility of malignant tumors in other areas.
