Gender-specific association between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus among a middle-aged and elderly Chinese population: An observational study.
Limited data are available regarding the association of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) with the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in China. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the gender-specific association between NAFLD and T2DM risk in a middle-aged and elderly Chinese population. This cross-sectional study was carried out in a group of 1492 Chinese adults (60.30% males) aged between 45 and 69 years old, in Hangzhou city, Zhejiang province who were attending their annual health check-up from June 2015 to December 2016 in the Medical Center for Physical Examination, Zhejiang Hospital. ⋯ After adjusting for confounding variables, NAFLD was positively associated with the risk of T2DM, and the effect of NAFLD on T2DM was stronger in males (OR = 2.442, 95%CI: 1.003-3.757) than in females (OR = 1.814, 95%CI: 1.011-3.257). Our data showed that NAFLD was significantly associated with the risk of T2DM in middle-aged and elderly males than in females. Further prospective cohort studies are needed to determine the causal effect of NAFLD on T2DM.

Psoriasis (PSO) is a systemic inflammatory disorder that presents with erythematous scaling of the skin and is associated with autoimmune dysfunction. Atherosclerosis is one of the major comorbidities of PSO. PSO-associated inflammatory factor IL-17 could lead to vascular endothelial cell injury and atherosclerosis. While some research results show that IL-17 helps stabilize plaque formation. Efficacy and safety on PSO and psoriatic arthritis (PSA) of existing IL-17/IL-17R biologics (secukinumab, ixekizumab, brodalumab, and bimekizumab) have been clinically validated, but whether they can improve atherosclerotic outcomes in psoriatic patients remains controversial. ⋯ CRD42020209897.

Characteristics of injuries according to types of personal mobility devices in a multicenter emergency department from 2011 to 2017: A cross-sectional study.
Personal mobility devices (PMDs) have emerged as new factors in motor vehicle accidents, and related injuries are increasing. We aimed to describe the characteristics of PMD-related injuries presented to emergency departments (EDs) through a cross-sectional study for 7 years. This study is a multicenter cross-sectional study using the Emergency Department-based Injury In-Depth Surveillance database in South Korea. ⋯ PMD users and PMD-sharing programs are increasing, and more accidents are expected in the future. As PMDs are convenient to move and more people are willing to use them, proper riding and safety rules based on the type of PMD are needed to reduce the risk of injury. The results of this study can be used as basic data for developing safety policies.

Intravenous pyogenic granuloma in the internal jugular vein: A case report and literature review.
Intravenous pyogenic granuloma (IVPG) is a special type of pyogenic granuloma, and its preoperative diagnosis is difficult. We report a rare case of IVPG that develops in the lumen of the internal jugular vein (IJV). Here, we analyze the imaging characteristics of present case and summarize the imaging characteristics of previous reported cases. ⋯ For clinician, IVPG's preoperative diagnosis is difficult. Although histopathology remains the gold standard for diagnosis, the combination of multiple types of imaging examinations is necessary to rule out the differential diagnoses of IVPG.

The effect of a micro-visual intervention on the accelerated recovery of patients with kinesiophobia after total knee replacement during neo-coronary pneumonia.
The global neo-coronary pneumonia epidemic has increased the workload of healthcare institutions in various countries and directly affected the physical and psychological recovery of the vast majority of patients requiring hospitalization in China. We anticipate that post-total knee arthroplasty kinesiophobia may have an impact on patients' postoperative pain scores, knee function, and ability to care for themselves in daily life. The purpose of this study is to conduct a micro-video intervention via WeChat to verify the impact of this method on the rapid recovery of patients with kinesiophobia after total knee arthroplasty during neo-coronary pneumonia. ⋯ This study has passed the ethical review of the hospital where it was conducted and has been filed, Ethics Approval Number: 20181203-01.
