To identify the risk factors associated with all-cause mortality in patients with noncystic fibrosis bronchiectasis (NCFB). This prospective cohort study included 120 adult patients with NCFB, who were regularly treated at a specialized outpatient clinic of a university hospital between January 2017 and June 2020. All patients were diagnosed using high-resolution computed tomography. ⋯ The all-cause mortality rate at 41 months was 10.8%. Adjusted multivariate analysis showed that the main contributing predictors for mortality were female sex, smoking, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emergency visits, use of antibiotics due to exacerbation, secretion color change, exacerbation, predicted forced expiratory volume in 1 second, predicted forced vital capacity, lack of respiratory physiotherapy, absence of vaccination against pneumococci, and mobility domain. Multiple factors contribute to unfavorable outcomes in patients with NCFB, and early recognition of these factors may improve care management.

Gross hematuria and IgA nephropathy flare-up following the first dose of Moderna vaccine: A case report.
Since the mass vaccination for COVID-19, several case reports indicated the risk of autoimmune disease flare-ups after the vaccination. Among them, COVID-19 vaccine-induced glomerular diseases have drawn attention worldwide. The cases demonstrating the association between the mRNA vaccine and IgA nephropathy (IgAN) exacerbation had been noticed. Mostly mentioned, the flare-ups usually occurred after the second dose. ⋯ This was an intriguing case of IgAN flare-up following the first dose of mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccination.

Awareness of poor sleep quality and sleep disturbances, as some of the factors that affect negatively quality of life for patients with the different classes of heart failure (HF) would enable health care providers to offer more comprehensive care. The purposes of this study were to describe sleep quality and predictors of disturbances in sleep in heart failure patients in Jordan. An explanatory cross- sectional design was employed to examine sleep quality, dimensions of sleep characteristics, types of disturbances in sleep within the different classes of HF in Jordan. ⋯ Regression analysis revealed that significant correlations were found between sleep quality and gender, disease duration, number of medications currently taken and ejection fraction (P < .05). Our findings indicated that sleep quality and disturbances in sleep were worsening with the increase of the New York heart association functional classification sheet class. Moreover, sleep quality had a significant association with gender, disease duration, ejection fraction, and the number of medications currently taken.

Novel corona virus disease 2019 is the major threat for human life nowadays worldwide. This study aims to assess the knowledge, attitude and practices regarding COVID-19 among patients with type 2 diabetes attending Abdullah Khalil diabetes center (Omdurman Teaching Hospital). A facility-based observational descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out between January and February 2021, using non-probability quota sampling technique in Abdullah-Khalil diabetes center via the use of a structured close-ended interview questionnaire. ⋯ Most respondents had good knowledge, positive attitude and good practices as 78.7%, 97.6%, and 69.9%, respectively. Educational level and source of information showed statistically significant association with the knowledge, attitude. However, the practice showed only statistical association with the mass media as a source of information (P = .006).
