Glycogen storage disease (GSD) is a glycogen metabolism disorder caused by congenital enzyme defects, with type I being the most common. Owing to the rarity of glycogen storage disease type Ia (GSD Ia) and the involvement of diverse systems, patients are prone to delayed diagnosis and inappropriate treatment. Additional studies are required to standardize the diagnosis and treatment of GSD Ia. ⋯ GSD should be considered in childhood patients with hypoglycemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hyperuricemia, and hyperlactatemia. Gene sequencing can enable quick identification of GSD subtypes. This case report highlights the common clinical manifestations can be linked to rare diseases. Clinical work requires careful observation of the correlations between patient history, physical examinations, and laboratory examinations.

The aim of this study is to verify the functional activation in a patient with anosognosia for hemiplegia following left brain lesions. ⋯ We underlined an interest in the compensation mechanism that involved neural networks near brain lesions and some areas of the contro-lesional hemisphere, suggesting that the synaptic plasticity permitted an intra and inter-hemispheric reorganization of the cerebral system.

Duplicate inferior vena cava (IVC) is an uncommon congenital malformation, but should be treated carefully under the circumstances of deep venous thrombosis (DVT). However, there is a paucity of clinical guidance on this situation. ⋯ Comprehensive imaging examination might contribute to the diagnosis of duplicate IVC, especially when individual conditions were limited. The position above the confluence of bilateral IVCs might be an appropriate suprarenal retrievable filter insertion location. To deal with different types of dual IVC anatomy, different strategies should be taken into consideration.

Nodular goiter is a common clinical problem, and thyroidectomy is preferred in patients with obstructive symptoms. Thyroidectomy is a complex procedure with some common complications. Three-dimensional (3D) computed tomography (CT) reconstruction and 3D printing provide visualized 3D anatomical structure, posing an enormously valuable potential in precise surgery with optimal efficacy and minimum complications. Here, we aimed to perform a precise thyroidectomy guided by this technology. ⋯ Our results proved that total thyroidectomy for giant goiter is challenging, and 3D image-guided thyroidectomy facilitates precise and safe resection with fewer complications. 3D CT reconstruction and 3D printing can provide anatomical details and may be considered in thyroidectomy planning for patients with giant goiter.

This study investigated the effects of resistance exercises using elastic bands on stress, lower extremity edema, and body composition in intensive care unit nurses. ⋯ Resistance exercises using the TheraBand can be an intervention to decrease stress and improve lower extremity body composition in intensive care unit nurses.
