In modern society, the incidence of diabetes is increasing yearly, and poor glycemic control can accelerate the progression and severity of diabetic peripheral vascular disease. External treatment with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been widely used in the treatment of diabetes, but there is no systematic review on the external treatment of TCM for diabetic peripheral vascular disease; therefore, this study aimed to conduct a meta-analysis on the clinical efficacy and safety of external treatment of TCM in the treatment of diabetic peripheral vascular diseases. ⋯ The objective of this meta-analysis was to investigate the influence of external treatment of traditional Chinese medicine on diabetic peripheral vascular disease and to provide more methods for the clinical prevention and treatment of diabetic peripheral vascular disease.

Hallux valgus (HV) is a common clinical deformity of the forefoot, primarily a deformity of the 1st metatarsophalangeal joint in which the bunion is deflected laterally relative to the 1st metatarsal, often in combination with a medial bunion or pain at the head of the 1st metatarsal. For HV bunions that do not respond to conservative treatment, surgical intervention is required, which generally involves osteotomy of the first metatarsal or the first phalanx. However, the choice of fixation method after osteotomy is controversial. Most scholars choose screws or plates for internal fixation (IF) to achieve strong and reliable fixation, while some experts do not perform IF after osteotomy, but reposition the osteotomized end and perform external fixation (EF) with a figure-of-eight bandage between the 1st and 2nd toes, which has been advocated by some scholars because it requires only local anesthesia and has the characteristics of minimally invasive and no additional material for IF, and has achieved good clinical results. Therefore, it is necessary to compare the choice of IF or EF after HV osteotomy to evaluate whether there is a difference between the 2 and to conduct a meta-analysis to provide a reliable basis for clinical guidance. ⋯ The findings of this study will provide evidence to determine whether IF or external fixation is more effective after HV osteotomy.

This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the association of hypernatremia with the outcomes of COVID-19 patients. ⋯ Hypernatremia was markedly associated with poor outcomes in patients with COVID-19. Hence, a blood ionogram is warranted and special attention must be given to hypernatremia COVID-19 patients.

Antiarrhythmic drugs and radiofrequency ablation are first-line treatments of atrial fibrillation, however, there exists a paucity of data regarding the potential benefit of different catheter ablation technologies versus antiarrhythmic drugs as an early rhythm strategy. We performed a protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the efficacy and safety of radiofrequency ablation and antiarrhythmic drugs for the treatment of atrial fibrillation. ⋯ This study provides evidence of the comparison of radiofrequency ablation and antiarrhythmic drugs for the treatment of atrial fibrillation.

The psychological well-being of pregnant women following assisted reproductive has increasingly gained attention in recent years. Anxiety and depression may be associated to pregnancy outcomes. This study aims to determine whether peer support and the WeChat group platform will reduce anxiety and depression among in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) women. ⋯ Given the inconvenience of visits due to the current pandemic of COVID-19, this study addresses the patient's visit needs by combining WeChat, the most widely used social software in China, with peer support, while helping improve maternal anxiety, depression, and pregnancy outcomes following IVF-ET.
