To assess the metastatic pattern in pelvic and para-aortic lymph nodes in relation with the primary uterine tumor site and to evaluate risk factors for lymph node metastases. 212 patients with endometrial cancer who underwent surgical treatment from December 2014 to December 2019 were selected. The clinical and pathological data were retrospectively analyzed. The factors and uterine primary tumor site related to lymph node metastasis were analyzed by univariate and multivariate analysis. ⋯ Univariate analysis revealed that lymph node metastasis was significantly correlated with Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage, depth of myometrial invasion, tumor size, pathological grade, and lymphovascular space invasion (P < .05) and was not correlated with age, pathological type, and cervical involvement (P > .05). Primary uterine tumor site (fundus, horns, body or lower uterine segment) with or without cervical involvement was associated with different lymph nodes' metastatic sites. The lymph node metastatic pathways of endometrial cancer mainly include obturator lymph nodes and para-aortic lymph nodes, and skip metastasis may occur; endometrial carcinoma may jump and metastasize to para-aortic lymph nodes, specially when the lesion is located in the uterine fundus and uterine horns (cornua of uterus); there is a significant correlation between the location of lymph node metastasis and the location of primary uterine malignant tumor.

This study aimed to explore the risk factors for infection and bleeding after lateral decubitus percutaneous nephrolithotomy procedures to prevent their occurrence and improve surgical outcomes. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 356 patients who underwent lateral decubitus percutaneous nephrolithotomy for the treatment of kidney stones and upper ureteral stones from January 2015 to August 2022. Among them, 290 patients had complete clinical data. ⋯ Independent risk factors for postoperative bleeding were multiple stones (P = .008) and stone size (P = .014). Multiple stones, stone size, and stone co-infection are independent risk factors for postoperative infection after lateral decubitus percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Multiple stones and stone size are independent risk factors for postoperative bleeding after lateral decubitus percutaneous nephrolithotomy.

Investigating the relationship between vitamin-D deficiency and glycemia status and lipid profile in nondiabetics and prediabetics in Saudi population.
Vitamin D deficiency increases the risk of developing diabetes, dyslipidemia, and other chronic diseases. We aimed to investigate the relationship between vitamin D deficiency, glycemic levels, and lipid profiles in individuals with prediabetes and nondiabetes. This observational cross-sectional study was conducted on 249 adults who were divided into 2 groups based on the American Diabetes Association classification: nondiabetics and prediabetics. ⋯ In conclusion, vitamin D deficiency is common in females, regardless of whether they are prediabetics, but is more prevalent in prediabetics. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with high triglycerides and low high-density lipoprotein levels, but there were no significant changes in total cholesterol or low-density lipoprotein levels. Furthermore, vitamin D levels were negatively correlated with both fasting blood glucose and hemoglobin A1c levels, and its deficiency was strongly associated with IR especially in obese patients despite there being no significant correlation with blood lipids.

Apoptosis of skin keratinocytes is closely associated with skin problems in humans and natural flavonoids have shown excellent biological activity. Hence, the study of flavonoids against human keratinocyte apoptosis has aroused the interest of numerous researchers. In this study, methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay and Western blots were used to investigate the skin-protective effect of isoviolanthin, a di-C-glycoside derived from Dendrobium officinale, on hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-triggered apoptosis of skin keratinocytes. ⋯ Last, our results found isoviolanthin has a strong affinity for binding to KDM6B, CHAC2, ESCO2, and IPO4, which may be the potential target for treating skin injuries induced by reactive oxide species. The current study confirms isoviolanthin potential as a skin protectant. The findings may serve as a starting point for further research into the mechanism of isoviolanthin protection against skin damage caused by reactive oxide species (e.g., hydrogen peroxide).

Carcinoid tumors (CT) are among the least studied tumors. It is a relatively rare and slow-growing tumor with good survival in its primary form. However, metastatic carcinoid tumor comes up with many different complications contributing to increased morbidity and mortality. ⋯ Being a neuroendocrine tumor, cardiovascular manifestations are mainly because of biologically active substances, produced by the tumor cells, remodeling the heart. Development of targeted therapies against carcinoid heart diseases is currently limited by lack of understanding of pathophysiology of the disease processes. In this review, we aim to figure out the spectrum of carcinoid heart diseases, along with the molecular biology of the changes going on, which, in turn, will not only pave a way to the development of targeted therapies but will also extend opportunities for molecular screening of the tumor and diagnosis at an early stage, thereby, reducing the morbidity and mortality.
