This case report presents a unique acute dystonic reaction (ADR) induced by metoclopramide in a 6-year-old male patient with pertussis-associated vomiting. The rarity of such a reaction in pediatric patients underscores the significance of this case in contributing to the scientific literature. This report highlights the need for heightened awareness of the potential adverse effects of medications commonly used in pediatrics and emphasizes the importance of tailored interventions for this population. ⋯ The main takeaway lesson from this case lies in the critical need for healthcare practitioners to remain vigilant for potential adverse reactions in pediatric patients, even when prescribing commonly used medications. The successful management of this case underscores the importance of prompt recognition, appropriate interventions, and continuous monitoring. Ultimately, this case contributes to the scientific literature by highlighting the unique manifestation of ADR in a pediatric patient, reinforcing the significance of individualized patient care and medication safety.

The COVID-19 pandemic had a dramatic effect on various health systems in terms of admissions and outcomes, including pediatric surgery activity. The aim of this paper was to analyze the outcome of SARS-CoV-2-positive patients admitted to our department during the regional COVID-19 pandemic in North-Eastern Romania. We also evaluated the changes generated in our daily practice by the COVID-19 pandemic and the dynamic response to this major challenge. ⋯ The SARS-CoV-2 infection had no significant influence on the outcome of pediatric surgical cases included in the study. We noticed a significant (31.54%) decrease in the number of admissions compared to the previous 2-year interval before the COVID-19 pandemic. Fast and adequate adjustment of the daily activity imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic was feasible and may be used in the future should similar epidemiological emergencies occur.

This study aimed to investigate the active composition and mechanism of the Shuganfang (SGF) in treating drug-induced liver injury (DILI) using network pharmacology and molecular docking. The potential active ingredients and targets of SGF were obtained from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database (TCMSP) database. DILI-related targets were queried from various databases including GEO, GeneCards, OMIM, NCBI, and DisGeNET. ⋯ The findings indicated that the docking outcomes remained consistent and demonstrated a favorable capacity for binding. SGF exerts a therapeutic effect on DILI through multiple active ingredients, multiple targets and multiple pathways. Our findings contribute to a positive investigation and establish a theoretical basis for further extensive exploration of SGF as a potential treatment for DILI in future research.

This study aimed to investigate the reasons for patient delay in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and provide a scientific basis for implementing effective interventions. With the adoption of the phenomenological method in qualitative research, semi-structured, face-to-face interviews were conducted with 14 cases, and the Colaizzi seven-step analysis method was used to analyze the interview data and refine the themes. ⋯ The current status of patient delay in chronic kidney disease is serious, and there are various reasons for it. Health management departments and healthcare providers at all levels should pay attention to this situation and provide targeted supportive interventions and health education to help patients establish the correct awareness of medical consultation and effectively improve their quality of survival.

Multisystemic inflammatory syndrome is a syndrome of multisystem involvement caused by a novel coronavirus infection that can lead to cardiogenic shock and death in children. ⋯ Multisystem inflammatory syndrome is often mistaken for Kawasaki disease, fortunately, their treatments are similar, the purpose of this case is to remind clinicians of the need for early management of children with multisystem failure following novel coronavirus infection, increase the detection rate, and save the life of the child.
