China has become an emerging destination for international migration, especially in some Association of South East Asian Nations countries, but the situation of migrants seeking medical care in China remains unclear. A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted in a hospital in Chongzuo, which provides medical services for foreigners, to investigate the situation of Vietnamese people seeking health care in Guangxi, China. Vietnamese patients who visited the hospital between 2018 and 2020 were included in the study. ⋯ Middle-aged Vietnamese females in Guangxi, China, may have much greater healthcare needs. Their main medical demand is for obstetric services. Measurements should be taken to improve the health services targeting Vietnamese female, but the legitimacy of Vietnamese in Guangxi is a major prerequisite for them to access more and better healthcare services.

While some systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients may experience varying degrees of liver function abnormalities, only a small portion of these cases have clinical significance, and the majority of patients typically exhibit low levels of serum bilirubin. However, in this article, we present a case of a middle-aged female patient with SLE who exhibited persistent skin jaundice as her initial symptom, offering a fresh perspective on diagnosing and treating patients who exhibit unexplained liver dysfunction and SLE combined with liver injury. ⋯ Most clinicians overlook that liver function abnormalities are the main manifestation of SLE, resulting in many patients not receiving timely treatment. This study highlights the importance that SLE is also a cause of abnormal liver function.

To explore the diagnostic value of 3 methods for sputum smear-negative and non-sputum patients with suspected pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). ⋯ For TB in sputum smear-negative and non-sputum patients using BALF Mycobacterium culture + BALF-AFB smear + GeneXpert MTB/RIF + Gene chip as the gold standard, BALF-AFB smear showed low diagnostic performance, while, though GeneXpert MTB/RIF and gene chip had good diagnostic performance, combining GeneXpert MTB/RIF and gene chip improved the diagnostic value to a great extent.

Pancreatic cancer is a highly malignant and invasive gastrointestinal tumor that is often diagnosed at an advanced stage with a poor prognosis and high mortality. Currently, carbohydrate antigen199(CA199) is the only biomarker approved by the FDA for the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, but it has great limitations. ⋯ In this paper, we searched the keywords GDF-15, macrophage inhibitory cytokine-1 (MIC-1), CA199, pancreatic cancer, and tumor markers in PubMed and Web of Science, searched related articles, and read and analyzed the retrieved papers. Finally, we systematically described the characteristics, mechanism of action, and clinical value of GDF-15, aiming to provide help for the detection and treatment of pancreatic cancer.

Diagnosis and therapy of giant epidermoid double cysts with infection on the buttock: A case report and literature review.
Epidermoid cyst (EC) is a common clinical condition and it can be filled with keratinized material. EC often represents painless, slow progressive growth, and single cyst. The cyst is usually 1 to 5 cm in size. Giant epidermoid cysts on the buttock area are extremely rare, and reports of giant epidermoid double cysts on the buttock are even rarer. ⋯ For patients with EC, MRI is recommended as a routine examination before surgery in order to detect the variation and extent of the cyst early. This lays a foundation for the complete resection of the lesion during the operation. The review of relevant literature will hopefully be helpful to clinicians.
