Application of placing the anterior end of endotracheal tube at the glottis in laryngeal mask airway positive ventilation during general anesthesia: A prospective, randomized, controlled trial.
Glottic contraction and closure causes ventilation obstruction and laryngeal mask airway (LMA) leakage during positive pressure ventilation using LMA. This study aimed to assess the effect of placing the anterior end of the endotracheal tube (ET) at the glottis through the LMA ventilation conduit on treating LMA leakage following glottic contraction and closure. ⋯ Placing the anterior end of ET at the glottis reduced LMA air leakage related to glottic contraction and closure in non-minor surgery. The ET placing had low stress response and did not significantly increase postoperative complications.

Application of traditional Chinese medicine nursing technology: Traditional Chinese medicine ironing combined with traditional Chinese medicine massage in improving functional constipation in elderly patients.
To explore the therapeutic effect of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nursing technology combined with TCM massage on elderly patients with functional constipation (FC). Ninety elderly patients with FC admitted to our hospital from January 2022 to February 2023 were selected and randomly divided into 3 groups. The control group was treated with conventional Western medicine, observation group 1 was treated with TCM massage on the basis of the control group, and observation group 2 was treated with medicine ironing combined with TCM massage on the basis of the control group. ⋯ After treatment, the increase in scores of CSBM and Bristol fecal traits in the 2 groups was higher than that in the observation group and control group, and the increase in scores of CSBM and Bristol fecal traits in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P < .05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions among the 3 groups (10.00%, 6.67%, 20.00%) (P > .05). The application of TCM nursing techniques such as TCM ironing and TCM massage in elderly patients with FC has a significant clinical effect, which can effectively improve clinical symptoms, defecation frequency, and fecal characteristics, and has high safety.

Evaluation of biventricular function by cadmium-zinc-telluride SPECT gated tomographic radionuclide angiography: Comparison to conventional SPECT.
We compared and analyzed the consistency and repeatability of left and right ventricular ((LV/RV) functions obtained by gated-equilibrium radionuclide ventriculography (ERNV) with cadmium-zinc-telluride single-photon emission computed tomography (CZT-SPECT) and conventional SPECT (C-SPECT) with sodium iodide crystal detectors. Seventy-seven patients were included in the retrospective study. Both C-SPECT and CZT-SPECT imaging were performed on the same day. ⋯ CZT-SPECT had better inter-group reproducibility than C-SPECT. The accuracy of RV diastolic function need further study. CZT-SPECT tomographic ERNV will play an important and unique role in the clinical application of accurate evaluation of biventricular function in the future.

Cryptogenic organizing pneumonia (COP) is a type of pneumonia with unknown cause, presenting with symptoms like dyspnea, fever, and cough. Solanine poisoning can cause symptoms like increased heart rate, rapid breathing, sore throat, diarrhea, vomiting, and fever, but there are no known cases of it causing COP. ⋯ Regularly monitoring disease progression is crucial for patients with solanine poisoning who have pulmonary symptoms. Promptly conducting chest CT scans and bronchoscopy is advised to check for any infections. It is also important to rule out pneumonia related to connective tissue disease-associated interstitial lung disease and provide appropriate treatment promptly.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) has a systemic consequence, influencing many systems of the body, including metabolic functions. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of gastrointestinal complications among patients with type 2 DM in the Asser region of Saudi Arabia, identify sources of information, and investigate the association of these symptoms with disease duration and glycated hemoglobin. This cross-sectional study was conducted between November 13 and December 27, 2023. ⋯ Gastrointestinal symptoms are common among diabetic patients in Aseer. The frequency of symptoms is associated with glycemic control, duration of diabetes, and health insurance status. These findings highlight the need for improved management and support for better gastrointestinal health in diabetes.
