Patients with atopic dermatitis undergoing penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) face a high risk of postoperative complications. Endothelial keratoplasty may be a safer alternative for such patients, including those with abnormal anterior chamber anatomy. ⋯ Despite the presence of peripheral anterior synechia or prior glaucoma surgery, some patients experienced a favorable long-term postoperative course following nDSAEK. This procedure may offer a safer alternative for treating patients with atopic dermatitis who have ocular complications that present a high risk for PKP.

Red cell size factor is a sensitive index in the early diagnosis of nondigestive tract cancer-related anemia: An observational study.
Cancer-related anemia (CRA) is a common comorbidity in cancer patients, and it can lead to a worse prognosis. The aim of this cross-sectional study is to investigate the clinical value of the red cell size factor (Rsf) in the early diagnosis of nondigestive tract CRA. A total of 231 patients with nondigestive tract solid cancer were included, and they were divided into anemic and nonanemic subjects according to the hemoglobin (Hb) levels. ⋯ Being treated as a categorical variable, Rsf had a highest odds ratio value of 30.626 (12.552-74.726; P < .001) for the risk of anemia. The increment of Rsf quartiles was highly associated with the decreased incidence of overall anemia (P trend < 0.001). The study suggests that decreased Rsf level is a potentially powerful predictor of overt anemia in nondigestive tract cancer, and it can be used as a convenient, practical, cost-free, and sensitive index in early diagnosis of nondigestive tract CRA.

This research aimed to develop and validate a clinical nomogram for predicting the probability of cardiovascular death (CVD) in patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). Information regarding patients diagnosed with GIST was extracted from the surveillance, epidemiology, and end results database. The multivariable competing risk model and multivariable Cox regression model were utilized to determine the independent predictive factors. ⋯ Additionally, risk stratification analysis efficiently divided GIST individuals into high- and low-risk populations for CVD. This was the first research to construct and validate a predictive nomogram using a competing risk model to estimate the individual probabilities of CVD in GIST patients. The nomogram can assist clinicians in making personalized treatment and monitoring plans.

Although Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) and Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses for Acupuncture (PRISMA-A) checklists had been in use for several years, compliance rate was still not optimistic. We investigated the quality of reporting for meta-analyses of acupuncture published in PubMed. We compared the compliance rate for the quality of reporting following the publication of both the PRISMA and PRISMA-A recommendations. ⋯ The compliance rate of the published research to PRISMA or PRISMA-A has no statistical difference between the Journal Citation Reports partition (Quarter1-Quarter2) and Journal Citation Reports partition (Quarter3-Qurater4) (P > .05). Regardless of the level of journals published, have obvious deficiencies in the details of the study, the reference basis for the design of the study, the analysis method, the degree of strictness, the scientific nature, and other aspects. We must strengthen education on the standardization of research reports.

To explore the relationship between meaning in life and vulnerability to crisis among undergraduate nursing students and the chain mediating effect between moral values identification and positive psychological capital (PsyCap). A total of 330 undergraduate nursing students majoring in traditional Chinese medicine in ethnic minority areas of Yunnan Province were administered the Meaning in Life Questionnaire, Moral Values Identification Identity Questionnaire, Positive PsyCap Questionnaire, and Crisis Vulnerability Scale. Meaning in life was negatively correlated with crisis vulnerability and positively correlated with moral values identification and positive PsyCap. ⋯ Moral values was positively correlated with positive PsyCap. Chain mediation effect analysis demonstrated that meaning in life cannot directly predict crisis vulnerability, but it can predict crisis vulnerability through 3 indirect paths: the mediating role of moral values identification, the mediating role of positive PsyCap, and the chain mediating role of moral values identification and positive PsyCap. Meaning in life can indirectly reduce crisis vulnerability among undergraduate nursing students by enhancing moral values identification and positive PsyCap.
