Cuproptosis, a copper-dependent programmed cell death process, holds promise for controlling cell death in tumor cells. Autophagy, a fundamental cellular process, has been linked to various aspects of cancer, such as proliferation, migration, and drug resistance. This research is centered on the investigation of autophagy- and cuproptosis-related long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and the establishment of a prognostic model for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. ⋯ By Lasso regression, 3 prognostic-related lncRNAs were further selected. We also investigated these 3 lncRNAs in relation to clinicopathologic features. The principal component analysis visually showed differences between the high-risk and low-risk groups.

Prostate cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the prostate gland, significantly affecting patients' quality of life and survival rates. Public data was utilized to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Weighted gene co-expression network analysis was constructed to classify gene modules. ⋯ Survival analysis indicated that core genes are closely related to patient prognosis. Through comparative toxicogenomics database and miRNA prediction analysis, PVT1 was considered to play a crucial role in the development of prostate cancer. The PVT1 gene is highly expressed in prostate cancer and has the potential to become a diagnostic biomarker and therapeutic target for prostate cancer.

Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the financial performance of hospitals according to hospital characteristics in Korea: An observational study.
The coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic had a profound effect on society and various industries. Moreover, hospitals experienced huge financial losses owing to COVID-19 prevention efforts. This study aims not only to comprehensively inspect the financial impact of the pandemic on Korean hospitals but also to consider financial performance by hospital characteristics. ⋯ We confirmed that the COVID-19 pandemic had a negative impact on the financial status of hospitals. Considering hospital characteristics, the impact of the pandemic on hospital financial performance differed based on location, type of hospital, and ownership. As the contributions of this study, the government could establish support policies such as government subsidies based on hospital characteristics and hospital administrators could set a contingency plan to mitigate national disasters.

Nutritional status of HIV-infected children at Federal University Teaching Hospital, Owerri, Nigeria: A prospective analysis of rural and urban dwellers.
Malnutrition is a critical concern among children living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), particularly in regions heavily affected by the HIV epidemic, such as sub-Saharan Africa. In 2019, nearly 2.84 million children under 19 years of age were living with HIV globally, with over 90% residing in sub-Saharan Africa. Concurrently, malnutrition remains prevalent in the region, with approximately 49 million children under the age of 5 experiencing stunting and 149 million suffering from wasting in 2018. ⋯ In addition, stunting was more common among rural dwellers. This study highlights the high prevalence of malnutrition among HIV-infected children attending the pediatric infectious disease clinic at the Federal University Teaching Hospital Owerri. The findings underscore the urgent need for targeted nutritional interventions, particularly in rural areas, to improve the health outcomes of HIV-infected children.

During coronavirus disease of 2019 pandemic a standard usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) in healthcare was mandatory, while actually the usage of PPE is currently decreasing. This raises the question about the further use of PPE in the clinical setting because healthcare workers (HCW) are at greater risk of being infected with SARS-CoV-2 than the general population. The primary objective of this study is to determine the proportion of shock room team members approving the further use of PPE including a FFP2 respirator in simulation training and reality. The secondary objectives are to describe the expertise and difficulties faced while using PPE in the shock room care. ⋯ A majority of our participants favored a standard PPE including a FFP2 respirator in shock room care. In addition, we recommend the use of PPE in shock room simulation training, while further awareness of and training in proper use of PPE seems to be necessary to reduce risk of infectious diseases for HCW.
