To investigate the association between the visceral adiposity index (VAI) and asthma using data from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2003 to 2018 by a cross-sectional study. We explored the potential relationship between the VAI and asthma incidence via a cross-sectional study of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2003 to 2018. Multiple logistic regression analysis, restricted cubic spline analysis and subgroup analysis were performed. ⋯ A positive relationship between the VAI and asthma incidence was observed. In particular, there was a strong positive correlation between the VAI score and current asthma. According to the subgroup analysis, more attention should be given to individuals aged 40 to 59 years who have diabetes.

Accumulating researches have reported that miR-17-92 cluster expression has strong association with tumorigenesis. In this study, we investigated the effects of 2 genetic polymorphisms in the promoter region of the miR-17-92 cluster and the risk and prognosis of endometrial cancer in northern Chinese women. Two polymorphisms (rs9588884 and rs982873) in the promoter of miR-17-92 cluster were genotyped by polymerase chain reaction and ligase detection reaction (PCR-LDR) in398 EC patients and 420 controls. ⋯ In addition, analysis using Kaplan-Meier plotter database showed that high hsa-miR-20a expression was significantly correlated with poor OS in EC patients (HR = 1.63, 95% CI = 1.02-2.61, P = .039). The genetic polymorphisms rs9588884 and rs982873 in the promoter of miR-17-92 cluster decreased EC risk. Both rs9588884 and the expression level of hsa-miR-20a mRNA may be associated with its clinical outcome in EC patients.

Recent mounting evidence suggests that shortening of telomere length (TL) is associated with impaired bone health; yet, a genetic causal relationship between TL and osteonecrosis remains uncertain. This study aimed to investigate the potential causal relationship between TL and osteonecrosis using bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR). Genome-wide association study summary statistics for TL were sourced from the IEU Open genome-wide association study project, while osteonecrosis data were obtained from the FinnGen Biobank database. ⋯ The reverse MR analysis revealed no significant influence of osteonecrosis on TL (OR = 0.999, 95% confidence interval 0.994-1.005, P = .802). Analyses for heterogeneity and horizontal pleiotropy yielded robust results. Our study demonstrates that individuals with shorter TL have an increased risk of developing osteonecrosis, whereas osteonecrosis has no effect on TL.

This study aimed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of Cangzhu Erchen decoction (CZECD) in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) using microarray analysis, network pharmacology, and molecular docking. The active components and candidate targets of CZECD were obtained using the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform and Swiss Target Prediction. COPD-related targets were collected from 5 databases. ⋯ Cancer, PI3K/AKT, and MAPK were the key pathways mediating these effects. The positive association between the core targets and the compounds was further validated by molecular docking. CZECD exerts its therapeutic role in COPD mainly through multiple compounds, targets, and pathways.

Observational Study
Path analysis of the effect of positive psychological capital on health-promoting lifestyle in patients with COPD after pulmonary rehabilitation: An observational study.
To investigate the effect of positive psychological capital on the health-promoting lifestyle of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and the intermediary effects of life satisfaction and learned helplessness. A total of 482 patients who completed the pulmonary rehabilitation course at the Nantong Sixth People's Hospital of Jiangsu Province were surveyed using a self-designed questionnaire battery, encompassing the positive psychological capital, health-promoting lifestyle, life satisfaction, and learned helplessness scales. A total of 469 of the 482 questionnaires distributed were effectively returned, leading to an effective response rate of 97.3%. ⋯ Moreover, the positive psychological capital of patients with COPD can directly predict their health-promoting lifestyle and exert an influence via the chain mediating effect of life satisfaction and learned helplessness. Therefore, clinical medical staff should assess the positive psychological capital of patients with COPD and adjust the daily rehabilitation activities according to the patients' mental state. Furthermore, enhancing the patients' life satisfaction by employing diverse strategies to reduce learned helplessness can notably improve the health-promoting lifestyle of those with COPD.
