The role of human microbiota in mental health and the underlying mechanisms of psychobiotics, which can modulate mood and behavior through the microbiota-gut-brain axis, has been a focus of scientific scrutiny. This work presents a bibliometric analysis to uncover research trends and insights in psychobiotics literature. The Clarivate Analytics Web of Science database served as the source for articles and reviews on psychobiotics spanning the years 2012 to 2023. ⋯ Ltd. The most active countries in psychobiotic research were China, Ireland, and United States of America, while the most active journals were Nutrients, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, and Probiotics and Antimicrobial Proteins. The most commonly used keywords were "psychobiotics," "probiotics," and "gut-brain axis." This bibliometric analysis has revealed the growing academic interest in psychobiotics, indicating that the relationship between gut microbiota and mental health will increasingly be supported by scientific evidence in the years ahead.

The association between interleukins and osteoporosis has attracted much attention these days. However, the causal relationship between them is uncertain. Hence, this study performed a Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to investigate the causal effects of interleukins on osteoporosis. ⋯ In the sensitivity analysis, the results did not show the presence of pleiotropy and heterogeneity. Therefore, the results were robust for the MR analysis. This study revealed that interleukin-7 was positively related to osteoporosis and that other interleukins were not related to osteoporosis.

Bioinformatics analysis of the tumor microenvironment in melanoma - Constructing a prognostic model based on CD8+ T cell-related genes: An observational study.
This research endeavor seeks to explore the microenvironment of melanoma tumors and construct a prognostic model by focusing on genes specific to CD8+ T cells. The single-cell sequencing data of melanoma underwent processing with the Seurat package, subsequent to which cell communication network analysis was conducted using the iTALK package and transcription factor analysis was performed using the SCENIC package. Univariate COX and LASSO regression analyses were utilized to pinpoint genes linked to the prognosis of melanoma patients, culminating in the creation of a prognostic model through multivariate COX analysis. ⋯ The findings provide valuable insights into the tumor microenvironment of melanoma and establish a reliable prognostic model. The integration of multi-omics and immune infiltration analyses enhances our understanding of the pathogenesis of melanoma. The identification of specific genes holds promise as potential biomarkers for individuals with melanoma, serving as important indicators for predicting patient outcomes and determining their response to immunotherapy.

Retrospective analysis of serologic test requests in the diagnosis of viral hepatitis: Inappropriate test requests and cost.
The rational laboratory use and implementation of test ordering procedures aim to reduce unnecessary test requests. This study aimed to determine the financial burden caused by inappropriate serological test requests for viral hepatitis and to investigate physicians' reasons for making unnecessary test requests. We performed a retrospective evaluation of inappropriate requests for hepatitis serology testing and the financial burden they caused at a tertiary care hospital over a 1-year period. ⋯ When this assessment is applied to the entire laboratory, it becomes clear how significant a financial burden, unnecessary workload, and loss of time this situation can cause. Identifying the presence of unnecessary test requests is the first step in preventing them. Appropriate measures include highlighting these issues, providing necessary information, and offering in-service training.

Serum and urinary biomarkers of vancomycin-induced acute kidney injury: A prospective, observational analysis.
Vancomycin, a first-line drug for treating methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections, is associated with acute kidney injury (AKI). This study involved an evaluation of biomarkers for AKI detection and their comparison with traditional serum creatinine (SCr). We prospectively enrolled patients scheduled to receive intravenous vancomycin for methicillin-resistant S aureus infection. ⋯ The median (interquartile range) level of KIM-1 (μg/mg) was significantly higher in the AKI group (0.006 [0.005-0.008]) than in the non-AKI group (0.004 [0.001-0.005]) (P = .039, Mann-Whitney U test), with area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (95% confidence interval) of 0.788 (0.587-0.990). Serum CysC, particularly in overweight individuals or those with obesity, along with urinary KIM-1 are important predictors of vancomycin-induced AKI. These results may aid in selecting better biomarkers than traditional SCr for detecting vancomycin-induced AKI.
