Review Meta Analysis
The association of serum magnesium and mortality outcomes in heart failure patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Low serum magnesium (Mg) has been independently shown to increase risk of heart failure (HF), but data on the association between serum Mg concentration and the outcome of patients with HF are conflicting. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to estimate the prognostic effects of hypermagnesemia and hypomagnesemia on cardiovascular (CV) mortality and all-cause mortality (ACM) of patients with HF. ⋯ The present systematic review and meta-analysis suggested that, in HF patients, hypermagnesemia with serum Mg ≥ 1.05 mmol/L was associated with an increased risk of CV mortality and ACM but this was not observed for hypomagnesemia. This finding was limited to the elderly patients with chronic HF who had reduced LV systolic function.

Review Meta Analysis
Prognostic impact of minimal extrathyroidal extension in papillary thyroid carcinoma.
It is widely accepted that maximal extrathyroidal extension (ETE) plays a vital role in the prognosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). However, there is no consensus among researchers about the meaning of minimal ETE (mETE) in PTC. Herein, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to examine the role of mETE in the prognosis of PTC. ⋯ mETE is a risk factor for poor prognosis in patients with PTC. Our innovative classification of ETE has its value in assessing the prognosis of PTC.

Review Case Reports
A case report and literature review of Churg-Strauss syndrome presenting with myocarditis.
Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) is a multisystem disorder characterized by asthma, prominent peripheral blood eosinophilia, and vasculitis signs. ⋯ By reviewing the present case reports, we concluded that (1) the younger age of CSS, the greater occurrence rate of complicating myocarditis and the poorer prognosis; (2) female CSS patients are older than male patients; (3) patients with cardiac involvement usually have a history of severe asthma; (4) markedly increased eosinophil count suggests a potential diagnosis of CSS (when the count increases to 20% of white blood cell counts or 8.1 × 109/L, eosinophils start to infiltrate into myocardium); and (5) negative ANCA status is associated with heart disease in CSS.

Blood Stasis syndrome (BSS) is one of the major syndromes in Traditional East Asia medicine (TEAM). Modern research of BSS began in the late1980s. ⋯ BSS-related studies have increased in quantity and quality, but there are limitations to them which require improvement in research productivity and academic influence.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Neurocognitive performance and physical function do not change with physical-cognitive-mindfulness training in female laboratory technicians with chronic musculoskeletal pain: Randomized controlled trial.
Cognitive and physical performance can be negatively affected by chronic pain. This study evaluates the effect of combined physical-, cognitive-, and mindfulness training (PCMT) on cognitive and physical performance. ⋯ Ten weeks of PCMT did not improve neurocognitive or physical performance.
