Neuropathic pain (NP) is a widespread public health problem that existing therapeutic treatments cannot manage adequately; therefore, novel treatment strategies are urgently required. G-protein-coupled receptors are important for intracellular signal transduction, and widely participate in physiological and pathological processes, including pain perception. ⋯ Here we reviewed the advantages of Group I mGluRs negative allosteric modulators (NAMs) over orthosteric site antagonists based on allosteric modulation mechanism, and the challenges and opportunities of Group I mGluRs NAMs in NP treatment. This article aims to elucidate the advantages and future development potential of Group I mGluRs NAMs in the treatment of NP.

Auditory spatial attention detection (ASAD) aims to decipher the spatial locus of a listener's selective auditory attention from electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. However, current models may exhibit deficiencies in EEG feature extraction, leading to overfitting on small datasets or a decline in EEG discriminability. Furthermore, they often neglect topological relationships between EEG channels and, consequently, brain connectivities. ⋯ EEG electrodes over the frontal cortex are most important for ASAD tasks, followed by those over the temporal lobe. Additionally, the proposed model performs well even on small datasets. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the neural encoding related to human hearing and attention, with potential applications in neuro-steered hearing devices.

Metaphors play a crucial role in language, thinking, and communication. Emoji, as modern metaphors, carry rich meanings and significantly impact emotional expression. ⋯ The results showed that when the positive emoji were in the upper visual field, compared with the middle and lower visual field, the ability to perceive positive emotions was significantly enhanced; Conversely, when the negative emotion emoji was in the lower visual field, the perception of negative emotion was significantly enhanced compared to the middle visual field. EEG data indicate that inconsistencies between Emoji spatial positions and emotional valence lead to increased amplitudes of the Late Positive Component (LPC), revealing heightened neural activity.

Recent neuroimaging and electrophysiological studies have suggested substantial short-term plasticity in the topographic maps of the primary motor cortex (M1). However, previous methods lack the temporal resolution to detect rapid modulation of these maps, particularly in naturalistic conditions. To address this limitation, we previously developed a rapid stimulation mapping procedure with implanted cortical surface electrodes. ⋯ These results provide a proof of concept that a rapid stimulation mapping system with chronically implanted cortical electrodes can capture the dynamic regulation of forelimb motor maps in natural conditions. Moreover, they suggest that posture is a crucial variable to be controlled in future studies of motor control and cortical plasticity. Further exploration is warranted into the neural mechanisms regulating forelimb muscle representations in M1 by the hindlimb sensorimotor state.

The role of miR-191-5p in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury has been established, with its expression in endothelial cells demonstrating anti-angiogenic effects. A potential circular RNA, circRNA_0003307, has been identified through bioinformatics analysis as a candidate for interaction with miR-191-5p, yet its functional significance in brain I/R injury remains unexplored. We aimed to investigate whether circRNA_0003307 regulates brain microvascular endothelial cell (BMEC) vascular tube formation, invasion, and migration by regulating the miR-191-5p cascade. ⋯ CircRNA_0003307 may be a promisingtherapeutictarget forthe treatment of cerebral I/R injury.
