Practical guidelines for fabricating mandibular guide flange prostheses: A new technique for measuring the flange angulation.
When a mandibulectomy causes discontinuity, the patient will need a rehabilitative prosthesis to achieve a proper occlusal relationship. ⋯ The introduced method for measuring the patient-specific mandibular guide flange angulation can help prosthodontists to prepare the mandibular guiding flange prosthesis with higher accuracy and predictability.

Successful management of iliocostal impingement syndrome: A case series.
Iliocostal impingement syndrome is a rare, painful, and disabling condition associated with thoracic hyperkyphosis and kyphoscoliosis. There is little published literature regarding management of this syndrome. The purpose of this case series is to report treatment outcomes for iliocostal impingement syndrome with improving posture and back muscle strength. ⋯ Iliocostal syndrome is a rare, painful, and disabling condition that severely affects quality of life. This report discusses our diagnostic and treatment approach to this syndrome, which has proven successful in our patient population.

ReviewSensory manifestations of diabetic neuropathies: anatomical and clinical correlations.
Diabetes mellitus is among the most common causes of peripheral neuropathy worldwide. Sensory impairment in diabetics is a major risk factor of plantar ulcers and neurogenic arthropathy (Charcot joints) causing severe morbidity and high health-care costs. ⋯ This article emphasizes on the fact that diabetic neuropathies are not a single entity. They are rather different varieties of conditions with more or less separate pathophysiological mechanisms and anatomical localization. Clinicians should keep this in mind when assessing patients with diabetes on the first visit or follow-up.

Self-reported prosthetic sock use among persons with transtibial amputation.
Daily changes in the shape and size of the residual limb affect prosthetic socket fit. Prosthetic socks are often added or removed to manage changes in limb volume. Little has been published about how persons with transtibial amputations use socks to manage diurnal changes in volume and comfort. ⋯ Knowledge of prosthetic patients' sock use may help practitioners enhance volume management strategies or troubleshoot fitting issues. Results showed that subjects generally added socks to account for volume loss, and end-of-day sock thickness frequently exceeded 5 ply. Use of sock logs in clinical practice may facilitate improved residual limb health.
