Comparative StudyPneumatosis intestinalis and portomesenteric venous gas in intestinal ischemia: correlation of CT findings with severity of ischemia and clinical outcome.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between pneumatosis or portomesenteric venous gas, or both, the severity of mural involvement, and the clinical outcome in patients with small- or large-bowel ischemia. ⋯ CT findings of pneumatosis intestinalis and portomesenteric venous gas due to bowel ischemia do not generally allow prediction of transmural bowel infarction, because they may be observed in patients with only partial ischemic bowel wall damage. The clinical outcome of patients with bowel ischemia with these CT findings seems to depend mainly on the severity and extent of their underlying disease.

Triple-contrast helical CT in penetrating torso trauma: a prospective study to determine peritoneal violation and the need for laparotomy.
A prospective study was performed to determine the usefulness of triple-contrast helical CT in predicting peritoneal violation and the need for laparotomy in the treatment of penetrating torso trauma. ⋯ Triple-contrast helical CT can accurately predict the need for laparotomy and exclude peritoneal violation in penetrating torso trauma including tangential abdominal wounds.

Focal radial styloid abnormality as a manifestation of de Quervain tenosynovitis.
de Quervain disease is a stenosing tenosynovitis of the first dorsal wrist compartment. The purpose of this study was to determine whether focal radial styloid abnormality (cortical erosion, sclerosis, or periosteal bone apposition) as shown by radiography can be an indicator of de Quervain tenosynovitis. ⋯ Focal radial styloid abnormality is an indicator of de Quervain stenosing tenosynovitis of the wrist.
